Global Bio-India (GBI) 2024 from 12-14 September, 2024 with a focus on ‘Biotech Innovation Ecosystem’ and ‘Bio-manufacturing’
The Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India along with its Public Sector Undertaking, Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC) is organizing Global Bio-India (GBI) 2024 from 12-14 September, 2024 at Hall No. 5, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, with a focus on ‘Biotech Innovation Ecosystem’ and ‘Bio-manufacturing’.
The event is expected to draw about 5000+ delegates from across the globe connecting Indian Biotechnology ecosystem with the International ecosystem. This mega congregation of biotech stakeholders would include national and international delegates representing Industry, Startups, SMEs, Central & State Governments, Departments, Academic and Research Organizations, Incubation Centres, Investors, National & International Associations and other agencies.
India is the 3rd largest Start-up ecosystem of the world and has over 1,25,000 registered startups and 114 Unicorns. Biotech innovations including for healthcare, industrial processes, agritech & food, energy, degradable plastics, biofuels are set to play a crucial role for progressing towards sustainable future.
BIRAC, as a central ecosystem enabler has created a network of 95+ bioincubation centres across the country. Over the past 12 years, BIRAC has successfully inculcated a culture of biotech entrepreneurship in the country. The number of biotech startups have significantly grown from less than 50 in 2012 to 8500+ in 2023. With Govt of India’s favorable policies and support, India’s Bioeconomy has increased from $44.10 Bn USD in 2017 to $152.60 Bn in 2023. This is further expected to grow to $300 Bn by 2030 through Bioinnovation and Biomanufacturing.
Global Bio-India 2024 would deliberate on the opportunities and key challenges in the areas of Bio-Pharma, Bio-Agri, Bio-Industrial, Bio-Energy and Bio-Services sectors. Salient components of Global Bio-India 2024 include:
