About Medical Device Consultants Certification Program
The Medical Device Consultant Certification Scheme (MDCCS) is a new initiative proposed by the Life Sciences Sector Skill Development Council (LSSSDC) to establish a structured, nationwide ecosystem for validating and certifying professionals in the medical device consulting domain.
Scheme Overview & Objectives
- Standardized Competence: The primary goal is to define minimum competence benchmarks for medical device consultants, ensuring they possess the technical knowledge required to guide industries through complex medical device lifecycles.
- Global Alignment: In line with international best practices, the scheme has been developed in strict accordance with ISO/IEC 17024:2012 (the global standard for personnel certification bodies). This creates a uniform mechanism for objective, impartial assessments while building regulatory and industry confidence.
Documents Shared
To maintain transparency and build an effective framework, LSSSDC has published key draft documents for public review:
- The Scheme Manual: Outlines the core structure, operational rules, and processes that Personnel Certification Bodies must follow to implement the certification consistently.
- The Competence Standard: Details the specific skill sets, technical qualifications, and assessment criteria that a consultant must satisfy to attain certified status.

Stakeholders are encouraged to thoroughly review the draft manual and competence standards, submitting their recommendations, critiques, or procedural insights via an officially provided online feedback form before the scheme is finalized and formally launched.
